Meet the Staff at Kootenai Vision Center
|
Our Clinical and Administrative Staff
At the heart of our small clinic is a team of dedicated healthcare professionals whose main focus is to provide a welcoming atmosphere while fostering a patient–centered philosophy. Upon entering Kootenai Vision Center, you will be greeted by our front desk staff who will guide you through the check–in process while ensuring that you feel at ease from the moment you arrive and throughout your visit. Our multifaceted team members are composed of skilled individuals who are genuinely interested in your eye health and vision needs and will do their very best to provide you with a customized eye care experience. From the reception area to the examining room each staff member brings unique strengths to the table. Collectively, however, they collaborate to meet the diverse needs of their patients. This integrated approach ensures that each person feels not only well–informed, but comfortable and confident enough to make learned decisions about their eye health as well. And together, along with Dr. Sorensen, they will strive to meet a common goal...to improve patients’ eye health and overall well–being while keeping them close to home.
Dr. Steven L. Sorensen, OD
Dr. Sorensen was born and raised in the small town of Philipsburg, Montana and graduated from Granite High School in 1975 along with 28 fellow classmates. He always knew that he wanted to choose a profession that was not only rewarding but also afforded him the opportunity to help others and make a direct impact on their lives. And after careful consideration, he made the decision to pursue a career in the medical field. From there, he built a strong undergraduate foundation. In 1979, he successfully graduated from Carroll College in Helena, Montana with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Furthering his education, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and his Doctorate of Optometry in 1983 from Southern California College of Optometry. He then returned to his home state, opening a family practice in Eureka in 1984 and then a second practice in Libby in 1990. Dr. Sorensen’s volunteer services include being a member of the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Board of Directors, a member of the American Optometric Association, and a member and past president of the Montana Optometric Association. Since opening his clinic in 1984, Dr. Sorensen has enjoyed giving back to the communities of Libby, Troy, and Eureka by donating to and promoting various clubs, local charities, nonprofit organizations, and fundraising events. In addition to providing comprehensive eye exams, Dr. Sorensen’s specialties include screening for various pathologies crucial for the management of ocular and systemic diseases; prescribing oral and topical medications to treat common eye diseases; pre– and post–surgical care; eye trauma and injury treatment; and detection of eye abnormalities and conditions.
